Keith Lidberg

July 2nd, 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/5423816

Keith Lidberg is one of the most versatile riders our sport has ever seen.  In the past three months he has placed first at two System 2.o rail events (Redbull Wake The Line and The Fise events) and a second place at Cable Nationals recently held at OWC.  With his sights set on the Wakeboard Boat Nationals, he has been putting in riding hours out at The Projects Wakeboard and Wakeskate Camp everyday.  He has been mixing up his riding time between the System 2.o, our rail park, and boat sets.  It used to be rare to see a wakeboarder excel at every aspect of the sport (cable, rails, wake, double up).  We’re stoked to watch Keith ride, hope you are too.

A blast from the past

June 30th, 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/5395198

This is one of our wakeskate campers from the past. His name is Nathan Legiehn. He brought his video camera with him when he came to the Projects wakeboard and wakeskate camp. Reed Hanson came by after he got his first Zariel wakeskate to take a set in the rail park. That night he edited the footage on his laptop. The crazy part about it is that he made his own music in garage band. Talented kid he is. I want to say thank you to nathan for letting us put up his work on our website. Big fists with explosions.

Daniel Powers

June 27th, 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/4160859

Kirby, Garret and I were sitting around last night talking about the Rail Park at The Projects Wakeboard Camp. It’s crazy how much stuff has gone down here. I think we should come up with a top ten list. It would be interesting to see what made it. When talking about pulling riders, Kirby turns to me and says, “Out of every wakeboarder I’ve ever pulled in the rail park I think Daniel Powers is my favorite”. He sited a number of reasons why. One of which I thought was pretty cool. Whatever kind of set Daniel is having, whether it’s a good one or his worst set ever, he’s still all smiles. It really makes it a pleasure to pull him. So from the Projects with love… THANK YOU DP.

Oli in 5th

June 26th, 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/4056095

Oliver Derome has been coaching with The Projects Wakeboard Camp for over four years now. He has helped many a camper reach their goal of their first wake jump to dialing in their backside 5. He is one of the most talented coaches I have ever seen. He truly cares to see other people reach their goals just as much as his own. Every time he goes to a pro tour stop I can count on a Monday email, which tells me how he did. Whether good or bad (lately its been good… real good) it’s always positive. The last email let me know he placed 7th at the tour stop in Wisconsin. That puts him in 5th overall. Currently he is riding at home in between tour stops. Everyone here at The Projects is stoked to see you doing good on tour and can’t wait till you come back. Here’s a vid I just found Patrick Wieland made a while ago.

peace out

The Projects camp visits the McCormicks cable park

June 25th, 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/5265298

It’s always fun to go hit up a different cable wake park. On Thursday we decided to hit up the McCormick’s cable park near Tampa Florida. Since we run a rail and Sesitec System 2 park of our own we had to leave Nate Perry and Patrick Garrett behind to hold the fort down. So Josh Kirby, Marc Rossiter, Jonty Green, our campers and Patrick Weiland from Grind TV headed over to Narcoosse to meet up with 11 year old Meagen Ethal.  We arrived at the Tampa cable park one hour after they opened.  To our surprise they had put in several new wake park features. We all agreed the 65ft flatbar was the hit of the day. It’s another great week of riding at The Projects Wakeboard and Wakeskate Camp!

Ladies shred the System 2 Cable Park

June 18th, 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/5200635

Alize Brion, Nicola Butler, Dallas Friday, and Maxine Sapulette came out to ride the Sesitec System 2.0 cable and proved that they can ride the cable just as hard as the boys. Throwing anything from a raley to an s-bend, they were all stomping their tricks with style. Towards the end of the session Maxine decided to kick it up a notch or two by throwing her s-bends to blind and even pulling a couple double s-bends.  Not bad at all ladies, come back and shred anytime. Patrick Wieland of Grind Tv put together a piece for us to document this awesome day at The Projects wakeboard and wakeskate camp’s System 2.0 cable wake park, enjoy.

Shaun Murray Erik Ruck Jimmy LaRiche and crew visit The Projects System 2 Park

June 11th, 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/5100878

Shaun Murray, Erik Ruck and Jimmy LaRiche from the Hyperlite team decided to do a tour of the Florida cable parks.  Their plan was to jump in Murray’s Bus first hitting up OWC (Orlando Watersports Complex) and then moving on to McCormicks cable park in tampa for a day, then down to The Revolution cable park in Fort Myers.  After swinging down to miami for a mid trip boat session and back up to Ski Rixen in dearfiel beach.  Their last stop was the System 2.o cable park set up at the Projects.  They brought along WBM (WakeBoarding magazine) photographer Bill Doster to document the trip. They had done so much riding by the time they arrived at the Project’s Wakeboard Camp, Jimmy laRiche couldn’t physically ride any more.  Murray and Ruck couldn’t pass up the opportunity.  Murray had learned S-bends at the Tampa cable earlier that week and wanted to see what all the rave was about with riders progressing so fast on the System 2.0.  I always new Murray was an amazing rider and the Sesitec System 2.o sped up the progression of learned inverts, but the display he put on was simply jaw dropping.  He learned s-bend to blind, double s-bend, switch s-bend, and something simple he had also never done… a true front flip. Something I did not know about murray is he could only do his front flips switch.  Ruck proved to us that he can use a roam to do air tricks just as good as he rips it on rails.  At the end of their session Shaun did a little barefooting “Murray style”.  The Projects wants to thank the guys for coming out and playing with us at our cable wake park. Hope you enjoy this video Adam Samuelson edited for us.

June 5th, 2009

The Ronix crew stopped by The Projects Wakeboard and Wakeskate camp this morning and quickly found out how good of a time the Sesitec System 2.0  is to ride, especially among friends. Patrick Wieland filmed a hour session and shortened it down to one minute to show you exactly how much ripping you can get done with you and your bro’s. Stop by to ride the System 2.0 cable Thursday to Saturday every week from 5-7, or call for an appointment so you and all your bro’s can have a shred session to yourselves.

Quarter Pipe Idea From the 2001 Carnival Contest at the Projects Refined for Red Bull Wake the Line

May 17th, 2009

Red Bull North America has recently been throwing down the most progressive contests in wake sports. The same is true in Europe. Red Bull Germany with the help from our friends at Sesitec (manufacturer of cable wake park equipment; see The Wake Park Project for more info) put on one of the sickest contests to date, Red Bull Wake the Line. Hannas and crew from Unit Park Tech put in some features between three olympic size pools. The highlight of the comp definitely was the quarter pipe at the end of the third pool. It’s crazy to think the last quarter pipe a wakeboarder hit (which was also the first in wake)  was built in 2001 for the Carnival contest at The Projects Wakeboard and Wakeskate Camp. The difference this time was a Sesitec System 2.0 straight-line cable pulling the contest. So instead of edging in and letting go, the riders held on to the handle, hit the quarter pipe and rode back out.  It was an amazing contest.  Special thanks goes out to the team at Sesitec for taking care of me while I was over there. — Panakos

Rockstar Rail Jam Final Results — Toe Jam Stop #2

May 9th, 2009

Orlando, Fla. — The sport of wakeskating took another step forward today at The Projects Wakeboard and Wakeskate Camp outside of Orlando, Florida for stop number two on the Toe Jam Wakeskate Series to determine which rider would win the Rockstar Rail Jam title.

Reed Hansen was solid on all the rails, but most notable about his riding today was the fact that he stuck three 360 flips and three backside big flips throughout the rounds, helping send him to the final against Nick Taylor. Taylor’s final run was near flawless, with a kickflip, boardslide big spin off the Nike 6.0 incline, switch back lip on the Rockstar flat rail, varial flip, frontside flip, backside flip and back lip shove off the Nike 6.0 incline.
